# 2866 SOLD, Grade (B-) |
This saber would be a fine starter piece for a beginner collector, not perfect, but reliably honest. The blade is in good condition with a few barely visible nicks in the edge and a beautiful patina. The manufacturers stamp is clearly original, with U.S., inspectors mark, E.W., and date of 1865 on the obverse. The grip retains about 70% of its leather with braided wire wrap 100% in good condition. The scabbard is in good condition with its inspectors mark, LW stamped on the drag. A small unobstructing dent is located near the drag. The upper carrying ring band has been shifted somewhat and the lack of aging under the ring indicates that occurred long ago. SOLD |

This imported French sword is a fine addition to any collection. The most stunning feature of this piece is the overall condition of the grip, blade and scabbard. The gold embossing is still visible, with the sharkskin grip and wire wrap in excellent shape at 100%. The scabbard is in excellent condition, smoothly fitting like a glove over the near unmarked blade. Some slight surface cracking and nicks in the shiny leather only enhance its authenticity. SOLD |

This piece is a fine collectors piece. Its condition is aged and beautiful. The brass guard is undamaged and tight. The sharkskin grip and wire wrap are somewhat worn and 100% intact. The blade is undamaged and the beautiful ornate engraving is clearly visible. The scabbard is 100% and rust free with signs of wear on the tip of the drag.
